Welcome! Introduce yourself and tell us a little about your writing.
Hi! My name is Nathan Hartle, and I’m an author of epic fantasy. My first series, Liturgy of Worlds, is about a young woman who joins a company of soldiers and misfits on a quest across worlds to find the lost goddess who can save their people from destruction. The series has two books out and two more on the way.
As for me, I’ve been writing and reading fantasy and science fiction since I was a kid. I first conceived this series in 2011, so it’s been a long time coming!
What’s something unique about your book that will make readers immediately want to check it out?
The story blends epic fantasy with touches of sci-if. It features flawed, complex, but sympathetic characters encountering worlds, people, and forms of life they never could have imagined.
What inspired you to write the Liturgy of Worlds series?
I was inspired by my desire to write a fun fantasy adventure. The story turned into much more than that, gaining scope and depth as I developed and wrote it. It got darker and more dramatic. It also turned from one book to an entire series!
Tell us about your favorite character you’ve written about and why?
Oh no, this is like picking between your children! My favorite, if I had to pick one, would probably be Brother Nor. He is a troubled monk who joins the quest because that’s his only escape from the troubles his rebellious behavior has landed him in. Despite his issues, he is brave and honest and a deep believer in his faith. I admire his strengths and sympathize with his flaws.
Without giving us any spoilers, what’s your favorite quote or scene from your book and tell us a bit about it?
My favorite scene is where Brin, a sly and treacherous character, gets the tables turned on him in a way that’s dramatic, satisfying, and a little sad.
