Say hello to Author T.R. Sharrow and the dark fantasy Faerie Tales series! Mili is the character you meet first, a happy nurse here on Earth. Who, after a lifetime here and a weird deal with a Fae, ends up in the realm of Faerie. The deal was for her to help heal soldiers during a Fae war, which would then allow her to return to Earth.

First off, introduce yourself and tell us a bit about you and your books!

I’m T.R. Sharrow, or Suki as I am an author, avid reader and gamer that is occasionally streams on Twitch. I grew up reading fantasy books, and writing fantasy short stories for school competitions, so naturally, when my life arranged itself to allow it, I started on my first book. I published Life After Death: A Faerie Tale for my 33rd birthday back in May, and will be finishing up my fourth book next month so I can start typing up the 5th one.

What (or who) inspired you to write?

Holly Black inspired me to write. The first fantasy book I ever read was Tithe: A Modern Fairytale. I fell in love with reading, fantasy, and fae (particularly kelpie) all in that one book. I still read it’s series at least once a year.

What’s your biggest gripe in the fantasy genre these days? What do you wish authors would do more or less of?

Made the characters older. I still read YA as well cause the stories are AMAZING (looking at Annette Marie and Isra Sravenheart), but I do wish there were some stories for us 30+yr olds about hot fae guys whisking us off to dangerous and magical worlds. I know there are, but more of them would be awesome.

Tell us something unique about your book/series that will make the reader immediately want to run and read it.

The main woman doesn’t run off with the super sexy fae just because he asks nicely. She strait up tells him no, because she likes her life. AND he doesn’t simply abduct her after she tells him no.

Who was your favorite character to write about and why?

Ohh… Hard one. Ummm…. I love Fòlais, Fò. She was an absolute blast to write, and ended up being a combination of a bunch of things I really enjoy. She’s a succubus, but not as you typically see them. Speaks Japanese and has a great appreciation for their culture, which she in turn has incorporated into her life. She’s also kind of an odd ball but with sass and a sense of humor.

Tell us about your favorite quote or scene in the book and why? (No spoilers!)

BUT MY FAVORITE SCENE IS A SPOILER! *cries dramatically* IT’S WHEN KING H***** ***D* Fò ** *** *A**** *** ** **K* *** T* ** *** **E** ** S*****!!!! I do still laugh when I read Mili and Duncan arguing about one of the Unseelie Lords being as useful as a bucket of sand in the desert though. That scene was fun.

Quick! Dinosaurs have found a portal through time and have come back to destroy humanity. Which of your characters are you picking to help defend you and why?

Aza. I can’t say much because he’s in my 4th book that is not ready yet. But honestly, hands down I’m taking the Djinn.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve had to look up in the name of book research?

The origins of hammocks.

This or that: The stunningly attractive alpha jerk who you love to hate or the somehow sweet but also annoying overprotective “I will burn the world for you” psycho? (and tell us why)

“I will burn the world for you psycho.” Because that’s how I am.

What’s one book trope you just can’t get enough of, and what’s one that you absolutely despise?

The one I love, bad-boy falls first. One I hate, harems/reverse-harems.

What do you hope readers will take away from your stories?

My stories are simply to allow the reader to take a break from reality.

If you could choose to be one of your characters for a day, who would it be and why?

Sarah, she’s from my 4th book too, but she’s the one I relate to the most.

You can turn one object in your household into a magical item. What would it be and what does it do?

It’s a book! And it takes me into ANY story I want to visit. But when I come back, almost no time has passed so that I don’t lose time with my family.
