Say hello to Author Michael J Adams and the urban fantasy series Osseous. It’s an adult reimagining of the tooth fairy where the main character is an investigator who can find missing children by swallowing one of their teeth.

First off, introduce yourself and tell us a bit about you and your books!

I’m a forty-something-year-old nerd who loves gaming (be it board, card, or video), baking, and arts & crafts. With over three decades of table top RPG experience I’ve always been a natural storyteller. I love offering a fresh take on well-known myths with giant spins. A tooth fairy that swallows teeth and can bend bones? Perfect. Vampires without fangs that absorb blood through their skin? Absolutely. A Muse that inspires people to kill rather than create? Yes, please.

Who (or what) inspired you to write?

After entering adulthood (boo) and having children, getting together for regular Table Top Role Playing sessions with my buddies became a scheduling nightmare. Frustration led to me trying my hand at writing as a creative / storytelling outlet. It was something I enjoyed in High School, but never really made time for since.

What’s your biggest gripe in the fantasy genre these days? What do you wish authors would do more or less of?

The same old recycled things over and over. Especially having a main character who is new to their powers. That’s why I primarily read Indie these days (and wrote what I wanted to read).

Tell us something unique about your book/series that will make the reader immediately want to run and read it.

Where else can you find a tooth fairy that beats the crap out of vampires and human traffickers alike?

Tell us about your favorite quote or scene in the book and why? (No spoilers!)

It’s canon in my series that tooth fairies ran hooch in the south during prohibition.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve had to look up in the name of book research?

The origins of hammocks.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve had to look up in the name of research?

I’ve done a LOT of research on the skeletal system and teeth in general. Have you ever seen an X-ray of a child skull? All their teeth are contained within the jaw. Nightmare fuel.
