Faeries are all the rage these days! I mean, when are they not? Who doesn’t frolic in the woods waiting for a stunningly attractive pointy-eared fairy to sweep you off your feet and cherish you for the rest of your life? What, you don’t do that?

Ok then. Either way, for this week’s Feature Friday let’s welcome Author Clarissa Gosling and explore her book, Fae Fair!

Welcome! Introduce yourself and tell us a little about your writing.

Hi, I’m Clarissa Gosling. I’m a mum of two living in the Netherlands. I drink too much tea and have a burgeoning obsession with Bundt cakes. As I’ve never found a portal to a magical world, I write my own stories where dragons and fae rule. I write ya fantasy of the sort I wish I’d had more of as a teen. My stories are ones of exploration, of characters searching for where they belong. They focus on just kisses sub plots and (mostly) non-violent conflict resolution.

What’s something unique about your book that will make readers immediately want to check it out?

Zoe, the main character finds her way into Faery when riding her horse. So she is searching for a way home, and exploring this new world, while also caring for Rascal, her horse. I’ve read many portal fantasies, but none with a horse which crosses over.

What inspired you to write The Lost Princess of Starlight series?

This was inspired by my teenage years when my sister and I would spend our weekends riding round the woods and lanes near our house. I’d often daydream about crossing into another world, so in this story I let that idea run wild!

Tell us about your favorite character you’ve written about and why?

I’m really not sure what to answer this question. Zoe, the main character, is probably the most like me of any character I’ve written. But there are some side characters I’m really fond of as the story develops. Some in a love to hate sort of way. Though I’m not saying anything more, as I don’t want to spoil things!

Without giving us any spoilers, what’s your favorite quote or scene from your book and tell us a bit about it?

I love the fair. This is the cental area in Faery, which is a marketplace for anything and everything. The stalls are a mishmash of every style, and laid out haphazardly round a central stone. This is a place that calls to Zoe, and despite everything else and all the other expectations on her, this is where she feels at home.
