Let’s welcome Author Marie Andreas to today’s Feature Friday Segment!
Marie is the indie author of the Lost Ancients Series (and several others!) and is here to tell us all about her book as well as drunken faeries. (Did I mention drunken faeries? There are drunken faeries.)
If you’re looking for a fantasy story loaded with action, humor, slow burn romance – and wee drunken faeries check it out!
First off, introduce yourself and tell us a bit about you and your books!
Hi! I’m Marie and I love making up things! Okay, that sounds odd…but you get the idea. I love diving into new worlds and more importantly the people in them.
I’ve been writing for a VERY long time, as in when I started looking to get published, the only options were traditional publishing. After a few rounds of, “I LOVE it, BUT…” (add market statement here) I decided to go indie. Best idea ever!
I hire professional editors, proofreaders, and cover artists—but I have control over things, which I apparently love.
I currently have six series which range from humorous fantasy to urban fantasy to space opera. I love not staying in one lane).
My books are escapes from the harsh realities around us. I’m not trying to make a statement, really. I do have a fondness for found family tropes, so if that’s something you like, I might be for you.
You mention drunken faeries and now you have me intrigued. Tell me more about these drunken faeries!
My girls! They started out as funny sidekicks. They’re about four inches high and wear overalls and flower petal caps. My main three are Garbage Blossom, Leaf Grub, and Crusty Bucket. They have their own agenda although technically live with Taryn (the MC). They love sugar and ale. Lots of ale. As in they can climb into wide-mouth ale bottles and drink the entire thing.
As the story has moved along (there is a completed 6 book set, but also a new round of adventures—so up to nine novels and one stand alone novella) the faeries’ impact on Taryn, her friends, and the world they are in becomes more complicated. They still like to drink though—and attack demonic squirrels with their war sticks.
What’s something unique about your book that will make readers want to immediately read it?
I think my combination of humor (not slapstick—nothing against that, but these are that), action, magic, and mayhem is different than others. One of the best things readers have said is that my books are their comfort reads—and they love going back there.
What inspired you to write The Lost Ancients Series?
Good question! I think with all of my books and series I wanted to read something specific, but
couldn’t find it. The Lost Ancients was a series about someone who thinks she knows who she is and what she wants—and is wrong. Very wrong. There’s also humor, adventure, mismatched romance, and a lot of mayhem.
Tell us about your favorite character you’ve written about and why?
Seriously? Ya want me to start a war?! Okay, I love them all—but Garbage Blossom (orange faery who is in charge and often cranky) is a lot of fun. She really has her own agenda, but helps out too. And there are rare times we get to see her get emotional which is nice. *note- this selection has nothing to do with an orange faery sitting on my shoulder poking me with a stick*.
Without giving us any spoilers, what’s your favorite quote or scene from your book and tell us a bit about it?
There are a lot-LOL. And many would give away things. I really like the start of the first book. Damn and double damn, Crusty Bucket was drunk again.
