What’s better than free stuff? Free stuff from me, of course. Packed with love, and probably dog hair. There is nothing more powerful than a reader recommendation (because let’s face it, every author thinks their book is amazing and my opinion of it means nothing.) I’m giving away a few PR bags of goodies for you to share on social and help increase readership of the series. Want to get your hands on one? Here’s what you need to know:

What is a PR bag?

A PR bag (or in most cases it’s actually a box, but I’m cheap) is a free collection of book related goodies sent to influencers who will then share their images/videos with their followers on social. This particular bag will include:

  • A print copy of Dawn of a Demon, book 1 of the NightFly series, signed by me!
  • A set of character stickers
  • Character bookmarks
  • 3 transparent book overlays featuring Zulli and her teammates

Am I eligible to participate?

The good news for all you international readers… I will ship anywhere! With a few minor adjustments. I know, I know, but the last time I mailed a book to the UK is cost me nearly $40. Those in the US will receive one package containing all the items listed above. For anyone outside the US, you will receive all the same goodies, but I will ship the book directly from Amazon instead and add a signed bookplate with the rest of the items that will be mailed to you in a separate envelope. Authors are also welcome to participate and share with their readers. Those selected will need to feel comfortable providing me their mailing address.

I don’t have a million followers. Will I be selected?

As much as I would love to send everyone everything, the reality is I’m a poor indie author who can’t afford it. Please don’t get mad at me! If you aren’t selected, I’ll still keep your information on file for future opportunities. That said, I’m not necessarily looking for posts to specific platforms (although Instagram and TikTok tend to see higher engagements) or even accounts with a large following. What I’m really interested in is engagement and whether your audience is interested in my genre. Only have 500 followers, but your posts get tons of views, likes, and comments? You have a better chance at being selected than someone with 15,000 followers who posts funny cat memes and gets 2 likes on each post.

I participate in a lot of reader groups on Facebook. Does that count?

Yes! Facebook group shares count as well, whether you’re participating in a reading challenge or just want to share your book mail. All I ask is that you please be respectful of any rules the group might have. Don’t go spamming groups simply because you’re required to post something.

What is expected from me?

You should definitely follow me (@CSchulzWrites across all platforms) so that you can tag me in your posts. The purpose of these media kits is to help get the word out about my books. Note you are NOT required to write me a review on Amazon (or anywhere for that matter). With that in mind, I ask that you create at least 2 different posts (images or video) featuring the book in some way or another. What can those look like? Here are some examples or feel free to get creative and choose your own:

  • Post your book review (You’re not required to leave a review on Amazon or other platforms, but if you feel so inclined I won’t stop you. :D)
  • An unboxing video with all your goodies
  • A photo/video of your goodies with a generic promo message or question of the day
  • Your pet and my book. Because let’s face it, everyone stops to check out posts featuring our furry (and non furry!) friends.
  • Something highlighting a topic, trope, or scene in the story. (For example, Zulli is unique in that she’s part cat/part spider shifter.)
Two different posts does not mean the same post on two different platforms, so consider your options wisely. If you’re planning to review the book, reposting the same video review on Instagram and TikTok is one share. Posting a book photo and review to Instagram and making a TikTok video review is still one review. I promise not doing this to be an ass and make things complicated, but this is costing you nothing but your time! Please throw me a bone here.

I’m an eBook kind of person. Can you send me a copy of that too?

If you would like an eBook copy instead of a print version, I can gift you a copy through Amazon (my books are in Kindle Unlimited, which has restrictions about sending out free copies). If you would like to have both, I suggest you just purchase the eBook. It’s free for Kindle Unlimited subscribers and only 99 cents to purchase. I hope you’d be able to spare a dollar to support me!

What’s the deadline for making my posts?

If you’re reading and writing a review, I realize that might take a little while. I would suggest completing your first post within a week or so of receiving your package and the second one within about a month. I will not hunt you down if you don’t follow this specific time frame, but if you run into any issues or have any questions you can always email me. If you take your stuff and run or post spam/irrelevant messages, rest assured you will not be receiving anything from me again in the future.

Tell me about your books. How do I know if I’ll enjoy them?

If you’re looking for a typical urban fantasy with tropes like the chosen one, enemies to lovers, and with vampires, fae, and witches, I don’t think you’ll enjoy reading my stories. The NightFly series is heavy on the magical science with ridiculous amounts of humor. Zulli is a part cat/part spider shifter (if you’re grossed out by spiders, I promise the spider part isn’t creepy), she’s not the strongest or smartest person around, and there’s very limited romance (no alpha jerks here). No spice, no cussing, no extreme gore. I suggest you download my free prequel, Mixing Magic & Mayhem, or read the look inside provided by Amazon to determine whether it’s something you and your audience would be interested in.

I thought I’d like your book, but it suuuuucked. Now what?

Hopefully we can eliminate this from happening by doing your research beforehand, but I understand that my books aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. If you don’t feel comfortable posting anything positive about the book, I just ask that you find another topic to post about instead. An unboxing photo/video with a “thanks for the stuff” or “aren’t these pretty?” doesn’t require you to talk about your opinions of the book itself. Reviews aren’t required, just appreciated.

This whole blog post is a novel in itself. Tell me where to sign up already.
